Bridging Divides – Dialogue in Artistic Expression and Dissemination

Our next online webinar will focus on the intersection between art and dialogue. Tune in on Tuesday Oct. 29th, at 14:00 CET.

What we regard as truth and facts are increasingly disputed. Can art create a space for dialogue where diverse perspectives can meet and challenge each other? How can art act as a counterforce to the growing polarization in society? What is the connection between dialogue, artistic expression and dissemination?

Art is a central channel for open, critical discussions that are vital to democratic societies. Our encounters with art encourage us to reflect on our own ways of seeing the world while simultaneously exposing us to other people’s ways of thinking. This process helps us develop the skills necessary to engage with the diversity of opinions that exist in society.

For this online event, we have invited Nina Denney Ness to discuss how art can serve as a gateway to democratic conversations. For 22 years, she served as a curator in education at the National Museum of Norway. The art museum actively uses dialogue as a key part of its outreach. Denney Ness now works as a freelance art historian.

We will explore some examples and delve into how art can address controversial and current issues in our time.

The event will be hosted by Trine Christensen, advisor at the Nansen center for Peace and Dialogue.

Link to Zoom will be avaliable shortly before the event starts.
