The Practical Approach of Public Dialogues<\/h2>

The handbook offers insights about the practical approach of public dialogues, a concept developed by the Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue. Public dialogues can contribute to; less polarization and tensions in local communities; ensure inclusive processes and decision-making, create a safe space for conversations on challenging topics; highlighting important events and conversations in communities. With this book, the NCPD aims to provide useful and accessible knowledge, rooted in real life experiences and practical examples. It can also be useful resource for everyone\u00a0interested in dialogue, peace, and conflict transformation.<\/p>\n

Creating Space for Making Change<\/h2>

100 civil society actors from a variety of organizations and public institutions all over Poland are trained in dialogue and conflict transformation by Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue (NCPD). This initiative from Orange Poland was a contribution to the celebration of 100 years of independence for Poland. The focus of Orange Poland, and the network of organizations, to train a wide range of civil society actors in dialogue and conflict transformation, is a much appreciated acknowledgement of the Nansen Approach. This provides a unique opportunity for constructive collaboration. The aim of this report is to assess the relevance of tools, methodologies and approaches that are introduced through NCPD training courses, and to increase our understanding of the context the participants work in, as well as their main concerns, achievements and challenges.<\/p>\n

The Nansen Handbook for Trainers in Dialogue and Conflict Transformation<\/h2>

How to facilitate processes where everyone is included and listened to? What does it take for people in a conflict to meet and talk together? The Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue\u2019s handbook provides exercises and tools for initiating a dialogue process \u2013 including descriptions of various underlying reasons for conflicts.<\/p>\n

In this handbook, we present methods and practical tools which can be used to build trust among groups and individuals, and to transform conflicts into new opportunities. This book includes several activities and exercises applied in our courses and teaching programs, and when facilitating dialogue processes.<\/p>\n

Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue Activities in Ukraine 2014-2016<\/h2>

This report describes visits made by representatives from Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue (NCPD) in Ukraine between May 2014 and July 2016. The purpose of these visits was to explore the relevance of dialogue as an approach to deal with the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and to connect with local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). Many years ago, when we started to work in the Western Balkans, we invited potential leaders from ex-Yugoslavia to prolonged dialogue sessions on what were the causes and the consequences of the war. Is reconciliation possible? How to rebuild trust and willingness to cooperate? How to develop structures that foster integration and unity? These dialog seminars led to the development of the Nansen dialogue method, which has been practiced in more than 100 seminars in Lillehammer and more than 200 in the Western Balkans.<\/p>\n

Midwives for Peace in Rural Afghanistan<\/h2>

Summary of a project with midwives from ten districts in Afghanistan. The Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue held two workshops in Kabul, coaching midwives in dialogue and communication skills.<\/p>\n
